The Top 5 Lifestreaming Apps

Richard MacManus, Editor and publisher of Read/WriteWeb, has done a primer on lifestreaming which he thinks is the new black.

While tumblr and soup.io are more focused on quick and easy blogging, and jaiku is more focused on combining external feeds into your microblogging, onaswarm comes closest to lifestrea.ms. Anyway it misses most of lifestrea.ms advanced features.

2008 will see a lot more happening in this space, which might become one of the biggest online trends!

lifestrea.ms considered as ‘bleeding edge of 2008′

Marshall Kirkpatrick from Read/WriteWeb did an excellent post today about the five big topical trends of 2008.

The first major trend he mentions is “Open Data”. I fully agree that this will be the single most important topic of this year.

From the 5 subthemes Marshall describes, lifestrea.ms covers at least 3: OpenID, data-centricity and personal data aggregation. We’re proud to hear that under the last point lifestrea.ms is even considered as being ‘bleeding edge’.

There’s also a great service coming along with this article - OPML files and bookmarks for feeds and searches that keep you perfectly updated on each of these exciting topics.

If you’re interested in joining the lifestrea.ms beta, please send me an email to beta [at] lifestrea [.] ms - we’re gonna send out new invites pretty soon.

Interview about Japanese AdNetwork AdButterfly.com

Recently I was approached by the Austrian press to give some comments on the launch of the Japanese adnetwork AdButterfly.com. They try to form a network of blogs and allow their bloggers to accept or decline and even comment every single ad.

To put it short: I guess their concept will not be working very well for the Ad-Industry. Today they published the interview with me as an article and you can find my opinion on this startup and additional information (in German language) here.

Lifestreaming at the eComm 2008 Conference

From March 12-14 2008 the Emerging Communications (eComm) Conference is taking place in the Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley. The conference describes itself as “it is the gathering of thought leaders who wish to share and develop their ahead-of-the-curve ideas and products”.

lifestrea.ms founder and CEO of Solution Media Thomas Huhn is holding a session on “how lifestreaming, attention data and semantic technologies can improve and benefit communications“.

There’s also a conference wiki where you can propose people to get connected with other conference participants and where you can add your own session for the unconference day (14th).

Please also check the facebook group if you want to get into more in depth discussions.

Registration is open now and if you’re planning to attend, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Thomas (th [AT] solution-media [DOT] de) to discuss the latest ideas and developments around lifestreaming.
